All of us set goals to do a particular task or for most of the tasks we do. But the notable thing is that most of us do not follow our goals and miss the achievements. The reason for this is improper goal setting.
You might have encountered many people in your life who set an exercising or losing the weight as their goal but in few days or few weeks they stop working out.
The result is that they never gain the shape they want. You might have also tried such resolutions.
The Starting Enthusiasm Doesn’t Last Long
Let’s understand it with most common goal setting – getting into shape. You, filled with enthusiasm go to the gym and start doing various toning-up exercises.
You feel that it’s the place you should have visited earlier and have gained the perfection much before. But by the end of two-three weeks, the enthusiasm inside you converts into exhaustion and you are ready to quit.
You start looking for excuses for not achieving your goal. Whatever be the excuse, big or small, you get engaged in it and stop following your goal. In short, you QUIT.
Quitting Is Not the Option
You should understand that quitting is not any option between you and your goals. To be successful, you should know the secret and the secret is not to set big goals. Goal setting is not about setting up those big goals.
There is a never-ending list of people who suggest that you should write your goals, and especially that one big goal should be in front of you all the time.
The places they suggest include pasting it on bathroom mirror, the refrigerator and near your bed so that you should see it as the first and last thing every day.
But the truth is very far away from this – A person writes the goal and paste it at all the places where suggested. Now after few weeks, the person starts avoiding them and the goals end up unachieved.
There Is A Better Way
The better way is – Set small and achievable goals.
Do not follow what they say; set small goals which are viable to achieve.
The problem with big goal setting is that when you miss a point, you get disheartened, depressed and you quit. And this is bad. If you don’t pay attention towards it, you may develop a quitting habit. And habits are not broken easily.
If you want to achieve a goal, make sure that it is a segment of your routine. And to make it a segment of your routine, you should reset your brain.
So, you should set small goals, gain some victories and from their you can start reprogramming your mind. Start with setting very small goals and achieve them.
And when you feel that your brain is reprogrammed, you can make consistent increases to your goals. Repeat this until you achieve your goals. Then in future, you will be surprised to see what you have achieved and what is your real potential. Always remember, Never Give Up!
